Product management is a complex and multi-dimensional role. As a Product Manager, you are responsible for creating products that create value not only for your business but also for your users and customers. You also need to collaborate with cross-functional teams and work hard to establish healthy relationships with key stakeholders in the business.
Product Managers often report to managers who are extremely busy and don’t have the time to coach them. It is also not unusual that the managers themselves have never been in the trenches building products and therefore are unable to provide the much-needed guidance and coaching.
It can feel very lonely being a Product Manager, and the hard truth is in order to succeed, you have to be very intentional about developing into a strong product leader.
In this session, we look at ways you can own your growth and pave your way to become a competent product leader.

Annu has over 20 years experience in the technology sector, she started her career as a software developer. She is an Electronics and Communication engineer and a certified Pragmatic Marketing (PMC) professional. In 2016, she decided to follow her passion and founded NedRock - a product management training, coaching and consulting company. She is passionate about helping organisations and entrepreneurs creating products that are valuable, usable, feasible and viable. She trains and consults on Product Management, Lean Startup and Agile methodologies. In 2018, she was elected as one of the fifty most inspiring South African women in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. She is also a speaker and has spoken at Google Women’s Techmakers program and various product conferences.

Roger is the head of Product at Founders Factory Africa where he helps their portfolio of African startups to grow teams, design product processes and build great products. Previously he was co-founder and COO of Trixta and before that ran a startup studio, Playlogix, that built over 50 tech products in 5 years. It's where he learnt the value in validating the business model first and why he co-founded the Lean Iterator that is a validation process to help entrepreneurs know what to focus on and help investors make investment decisions as well as wrote a book called 'Start Here' on how to build a startup.
