WEBINAR

An Experienced Designer in a Product Manager’s Body
07 Oct 2020 | 08:00 PM - 09:00 PM

Many UX practitioners are making the jump from Design to Product Management, especially as they transition from consulting to in-house roles. It is a transition that involves several critical factors, as well as some soul-searching. In this presentation, we will discuss the differences and similarities between Experience Design and Product Management, some processes and methods that we can borrow from Design Thinking in our day-to-day, and how transitioning into Product Management can help designers graduate from the trenches of the ‘How’ to the strategic pinnacle of the ‘Why’.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
  • Perspectives & POV: We will discuss where product management is today versus what it has been, and what the relationship between PM and the rest of the team should be.
  • Strategy + Execution: We will discuss methods and practices, and how to develop and exercise new and different muscles to achieve professional growth.
  • A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing: We will discuss the difference between a Product and an Experience, and how having a design background is an unfair advantage.
    in a Product-driven world.
